Our Coaching Approach

ALG coaches are proficient in delivering coaching programs — conducted with a mix of remote and in-person meetings — that accelerate individual Personal Mastery and create change that sticks. Beginning with an initial discovery call, our programs are customized to the client’s particular needs and desired outcomes. Individual coaching programs can consist of a minimum of 3 - 8 coaching meetings at regular intervals which range from bi-weekly, to monthly or at key times in the year. Surveys, interviews, self-assessments and feedback tools such as 360º reports may be employed to maximize the effectiveness of the coaching. Offerings range from Individual Coaching Programs, to Team Coaching Workshops and hybrid approaches with both team and individual portions.

Individual Coaching

Our one-on-one performance coaching falls into two main categories, which often overlap. The choice between these approaches often depends on the coachee's needs and objectives.

    • Focus: Centers around setting and achieving specific goals and targets.

    • Goals: Primarily focuses on holding the coachee accountable for actions, milestones, and outcomes.

    • Methods: Typically includes setting SMART goals, establishing action plans, monitoring progress, and providing feedback.

    • Focus: Emphasizes self-discovery, introspection, and gaining deeper understanding of one's behaviors, and motivations.

    • Goals: Aims to uncover underlying beliefs, patterns, and insights that can lead to personal growth and change.

    • Methods: Often involves reflective questioning, exploring values and beliefs, and fostering awareness of thought processes and emotions.

Team Coaching Workshop

Our team coaching sessions are generally two days in length, conducted in-person or remote for small groups of up to 10-12 individuals. Learning key leadership concepts is interspersed with focused individual coaching in a group setting to build trust and alignment. Team coaching is well-suited to intact teams such as executive teams or operational leadership groups where ‘group norms’, purpose, and trust may need refreshing.

Case Study – High Growth Hybrid Coaching Program

Client: 400-person consulting firm

Challenge: Facing rapid organic growth the firm needed their current business line leaders to accelerate their leadership growth in order to manage more people, larger geographies, and demanding clients – while maintaining a semblance of work/life balance.

Approach: 6-month hybrid coaching program delivered for a cohort of 12 participants. The program includes four intensive one-on-one remote coaching meetings with an ALG coach. These individual sessions are augmented by three in-person group sessions. The group sessions reinforce participants' trust and alignment, and further enhance the firm’s strong culture.

Results: Entering its fourth year the impact on key line leaders at the firm has been immense. Individually, many graduates have moved into more senior leadership roles. Many participants credit the coaching program with renewing their sense of purpose, orienting them to better energy management, and giving them tools for more impactful leadership.

Geordie and team have been a perennial part of our firms evolution over the past few decades. Their coaching has enabled us to navigate difficult situations and increased our capacity to thrive personally and professionally as a group of leaders working towards a common goal.
